Find the perfect “Attitude of Gratitude Quotes” to inspire and uplift your everyday here—exactly what you’ve been searching for!

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude (stick around to find out why I’m suddenly Ms. Gratitude)—not just the kind of thanks you toss out when someone holds the door, but the deep, heartfelt appreciation for what’s good in your life—even the little things that can change how you see the world.

It’s like hitting pause in the middle of a busy work day, taking a deep breath, and thinking, “You know what? Life’s actually pretty awesome.”

It could be that first sip of tea (full disclosure: I’m a total tea addict—though for you, it might be coffee!) in the morning, rediscovering a song you used to love that still has the power to make you dance, or that moment when you reach into an old sweater’s pocket and find the money you forgot about—or even a call from an old school friend who somehow tracked down your number.

Why am I thinking about gratitude? Well, I’ve been observing my teen and came to a rather unsettling realization—she takes everything for granted and isn’t very thankful for her blessings.

Curious and concerned, I chatted with some of her friends’ moms, thinking maybe it was just a phase with my daughter.

But nope, it seems like everyone was noticing the same thing! I wondered if this is a Generation Z trait or what we should call it.

We’ve given our kids every comfort and luxury, and it seems they’ve grown so accustomed to their good life that gratitude often takes a backseat.

Growing up, my sister and I had to compromise and share whatever little we had, which taught us to be grateful for every bit of it.

Our parents always reminded us to count our blessings, and we learned to cherish what we had—big or small. But I guess we slipped a bit in passing this wisdom to the next generation. Our newest generations might be missing out on the gratitude groove. Our bad.

In our fast-paced, notification-filled lives, with everyone glued to their screens, we’re more about the ‘likes’ than genuine life appreciation. Thus, gratitude often gets lost in the shuffle.

We’re always on fast-forward, racing through our to-do lists, that taking a moment to enjoy a sunset or savor a cup of tea feels like a stolen pleasure we hardly ever indulge in.

Determined to nudge my daughter towards a more thankful mindset, I gave her a beautiful gratitude journal with a tiny goal: Write down at least one thing she’s thankful for at the end of each day and give a little shoutout to the universe for that blessing. It could be as profound as a family or simple as ‘My coffee was hot today.’

It’s a simple and small step, but it’s a start to bring back that attitude of gratitude into our lives. And who knows? Maybe she’ll start seeing the world differently, one thankful note at a time.

As I scrolled through the endless sea of journals online, looking for the perfect one for my teen, I was amazed by the sheer variety—and clearly, they’re flying off the shelves, hence the array of choices. It’s no wonder this old-school tool is back in style. It’s amazing how much impact a simple ‘thank you’ can have.

And you don’t have to take my word for it. Many folks—thinkers, dreamers, and doers—have shared their thoughts on gratitude in TED Talks, podcasts, and, yes, those good old-fashioned books. They talk about how gratitude isn’t just good for the soul but a powerhouse of positivity for our minds and bodies.

Researchers like Robert Emmons have been promoting this for years, showing how counting our blessings can lead to a happier, healthier life. There’s actual science that says people who jot down what they’re grateful for feel better physically and mentally and more optimistic about the future.

I mean, just scribbling down that you’re thankful for Netflix binges or your teen’s rare, unsolicited hugs made you feel better.

Talk about the pros – listen to David Steindl-Rast’s TED Talk on grateful living or pick up a book like Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection, where she dives deep into how gratitude can ground us. And if you’re a fan of Brené, don’t miss my curated collection of her most inspiring quotes.

Also, Martin Seligman’s book Flourish packs some practical tips on using gratitude to boost your happiness. Oh, and don’t miss Shawn Achor’s talk, “The happy secret to better work.” He makes a great case for how saying thanks can actually make us better at our jobs. Worth a watch!

In my house, we’ve made it a bit of a challenge to see who can come up with the most creative expressions of thanks. My teen daughter once said she was grateful for her alarm clock because, even though it annoys her, it means she’s got another day ahead (a rare moment of teen wisdom!). Once thanked her socks for keeping her toes snug—silly, sure, but boy, did it make us laugh!

Remember that there’s always something to be thankful for in this whirlwind world.

Would you like to join me in this gratitude movement? It’s the need of the hour—for our future generations. Let’s inspire kids to develop an attitude of gratitude. Share an uplifting podcast episode, a TED Talk about gratitude, or gift a life-changing book or a charming gratitude journal to inspire them. I’m hopeful it’ll improve their (and, of course, ours) lives. Let’s make gratitude trendy again, shall we?

So, without further ado, let’s explore the best gratitude quotes of all time to enrich our everyday lives.
